The Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided the residence and office of businessman Raj Kundra on Friday, who is married to actress Shilpa Shetty. The raids are part of an ongoing money laundering investigation linked to a pornography network. The ED also targeted properties of Kundra’s associates.
Raj Kundra was arrested in June 2021 for producing pornographic films. After spending two months in jail, he was granted bail in September 2021. Mumbai Police have named him as the main conspirator in the case.
The investigation began after a Mumbai Police crackdown in February 2021, leading to the arrest of five people. Over time, four more individuals were arrested. However, the case faced delays due to leadership changes in the police force.
In June, the Mumbai Police Crime Branch revived its investigation. They found links to HotShots, an adult content app owned by one of Kundra’s companies. Further searches uncovered explicit content on seized servers, heightening scrutiny of Kundra and his associates.
