Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu assured that the state government stands with the people in the matter of creating an eco-sensitive zone around the Paong Dam. Speaking at the ‘Government at the Village Door’ program in Nakki village, Paragpur, Kangra district, he mentioned efforts to promote tourism activities in the Paong Dam area. Plans worth 100 crores are set to commence in the coming times. The Chief Minister highlighted the economic challenges faced by the people, citing the burden of over one lakh rupees in debt on every Himachali due to the economic legacy inherited from the previous BJP government.
The state government is actively working to revive the economy and has succeeded in bringing the state’s economy back on track by up to 20% within a year. The government is also investing in projects like the 250 crore milk processing plant in Dharamshala.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister addressed the issue of declining educational standards in the state, emphasizing the steps taken by the government to improve education. Starting from the next academic session, the first class in government schools will be taught in English medium, and clusters will be formed to utilize resources more efficiently. The state government will also bear the educational expenses of widows’ children, with a plan outlined in the budget for this purpose.
