In a giant breakthrough, scientists have confirmed that the earth’s core is now slowing down, so much so, that it is now moving backwards.

As per the new study in nature, the scientists have confirmed the slowdown and backs the idea that earth is following 70-year-old cycle.

But scientists are still don’t know that when and if the earth’s rotation will change its direction.

According to experts, this backtracking happened in the last 40 years and this time they have the ‘ most definitive evidence’ that the earth is indeed moving in a reverse direction.

The Evidence of Earth’s Core Moving In Backward Direction

According to John vidale and his teams, the seismic waves derived from earthquakes and nuclear tests, usually goes through inner core.

They further revealed that around 100 earthquakes, which took place between 1991 and 2023 in South Sandwich Islands at South Atlantic Ocean have occurred in same location at same fautlines.

As per Vidale, the changes in waveforms can be seen as earth’s inner core moves. Thus, concluding that backtracking is indeed happening.

How Will It Affect Us?

According to scientists, the days might become longer as earth’s rotation might have slowed down. However, these changes are too small to be noticed.

Since backtracking is happening for the last 40 years, the possibility of such a huge change will be less.
