The Delhi University Student Union President, Tushar Dedha, met Lieutenant Governor of Delhi V.K. Saxena on Tuesday, where he submitted a letter to the Lieutenant Governor raising the demand of university students. In the letter, he put up five demands from the university.
The most important demand is a student concession pass for the Delhi metro and the resumption of university special buses for the convenience of students coming from outer areas of Delhi. The other demand includes establishing the East Campus of Delhi University so that students studying in colleges lying in Eastern Delhi need not come to the North Campus for examination or administration-related facilities.
The fourth demand was to appoint ad hoc teachers as permanent in 12 colleges that are directly funded by the Delhi government, and the fifth demand was to take strict action against illegal hukkah bars running in the nearby areas of the Delhi University North campus.
Speaking at this meeting, DUSU President Tushar Dedha said, “The Lieutenant Governor has been briefed about the demands of students, and he has given assurance to implement them as soon as possible”.
All these demands were in the ABVP manifesto for the recently concluded DUSU elections, where the ABVP won three seats out of four.
