Unidentified drones have been spotted over sensitive sites in Germany, including a US air base and major industrial locations, according to a confidential report obtained by Spiegel magazine. The report highlights several drone sightings in the evening of December 3 and 4 over the US air base at Ramstein, a key military hub.

German security authorities have flagged these incidents, prompting increased concerns about potential threats to national security. A source familiar with the matter confirmed the accuracy of the report, though the German Ministry of Defense declined to comment on the issue.

German intelligence officials have raised alarms about the growing risk of sabotage, particularly as Germany continues its support for Ukraine in the ongoing conflict with Russia. This heightened concern follows several security incidents at military barracks in the country, which have further amplified fears of targeted attacks.

In addition to Ramstein, Spiegel reported sightings of drones over facilities belonging to major German corporations, including arms manufacturer Rheinmetall and chemicals giant BASF. Both companies have expressed concern over the incidents, with BASF emphasizing its commitment to safeguarding its sites. “The safety of BASF sites is our top priority,” a company spokesperson stated, adding that the company works closely with security authorities to monitor suspicious activities.

Rheinmetall has yet to comment on the situation. These developments underscore growing security challenges for Germany, particularly considering its strategic role in the ongoing war in Ukraine.
