DON’T PLAY PETTY POLITICS WITH WATER, HARYANA CM TELLS AAP

Haryana CM reiterated that he’s following the directions of the Supreme Court and that Haryana is providing more than 300 cusecs of water to Delhi.

Following the shortage of water and early summer, the issue of water in Haryana as well as in other states has become the talk of the town these days. Haryana and Delhi are at loggerheads over the issue of the water share. Aam Adami Party (AAP) led-Delhi government continues to accuse the BJP-led Haryana Government of not giving its water share which is leading to heated arguments and ruckus between the leaders of both parties. Following the delegations of the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal has outrightly rejected the same saying that Kejriwal is lying as Haryana never denied it.

A new development occurred after the Haryana Chief Minister attacked the Delhi Government along with the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal saying that there should be no politics on this issue and if AAP continues doing so then the BJP is likely to come up with some political decision. The new statement made by Manohar Lal contains hidden political meaning.

While interacting with media persons here on Friday in Chandigarh the Chief Minister said that following the directions of the Supreme Court, Haryana is providing more than 300 cusec water. For the same, the state government is putting its best to meet the directions of the Supreme Court. In wake of Manohar Lal’s statement, political experts believe that the BJP is not leaving any stone unturned to counter AAP.

In this series. Haryana and its neighbouring state Punjab are at loggerheads over the issue of water share over Satluj Yamuna link (SYL) row. Haryana has been accusing Punjab of not giving its share which resulted in increased problems for the state. Haryana continues to state that it agrees to give a water share Haryanvi is also likely to give additional water to Delhi. But Haryana is helpless as it is already going through a shortage of water.

Besides, Manohar Lal said that whenever the Delhi Jal Board knocks on the doors of both Supreme and High court, it has always been proved that Haryana is releasing more than 1049 cusecs of water from Munak headworks to Delhi against their share of 719 cusecs, thus providing Yamuna water to Delhi as per Upper Yamuna River Board (UYRB)

He said that on February 29, 1996, Supreme Court had directed Haryana to provide an additional 330 cusecs of water per day to Delhi. Earlier, Delhi’s share in water was 719 cusecs per day.

While reacting the statement of Haryana CM, Sushil Gupta, a Rajya Sabha MP and the AAP leader, said that the BJP-led Haryana government is leaving no opportunity to gain political mileage from the issue of water going on between both state. It is a noticeable fact that Haryana continues to disobey the directions of the Supreme Court, he alleged.
