In a tragic accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Eluru district, one person lost his life, and six others sustained injuries after a mishap involving firecrackers. The incident occurred when a man on a scooter, identified as Sudhakar, was transporting a load of ‘onion bombs’—a popular Diwali firecracker. The accident happened as the bike hit a pothole near a local temple, causing the firecrackers to fall off and explode on impact.

According to reports, the explosive power of the ‘onion bombs’ was comparable to that of an improvised explosive device (IED). CCTV footage reveals two men speeding through a narrow street on a white scooter. At around 12:17 pm, the explosion occurred as they neared a wider junction with several bystanders nearby. The intense blast released dark smoke and debris, covering the area in grey ash and bits of paper. As the smoke cleared, two men emerged, rushing away from the scene with the remains of the scooter and body parts visible at a distance.

The aftermath shows the two survivors clutching their ears, likely disoriented from the blast, and seeking help from a nearby house. The scene was reported to be gruesome, with the rider, Sudhakar, suffering severe and fatal injuries.

The six injured individuals were promptly transported to the district hospital, with two in critical condition. Police have arrived at the scene, registered a case, and launched an investigation to understand the circumstances surrounding this tragic accident.
