A four-year-old video by well-known Indian YouTuber Dhruv Rathee has recently gone viral, igniting renewed interest and discussion. This video, which emphasizes the peaceful and progressive qualities of Bangladesh, has gained attention in light of current events and changing regional dynamics.
Bangladesh has descended into uncertainty following weeks of violent street protests over job quotas, leading to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation and flight. On Tuesday, Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin dissolved Parliament and appointed Nobel laureate Mohammad Yunus as the head of an interim government.
In the video, Rathee praises Bangladesh for its developmental achievements and its ranking on the Happiness Index. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla also shared the video on X (formerly Twitter).
“So you hailed a model of Bangladesh that failed in just 4 years & ended up making a more sustainable Bharatiya model look bad? Either you are stupid or you did it because you have an axe to grind with Modi or both? You do a YouTube video & explain that to your dumb followers,” Poonawalla wrote.

Rathee created the video in 2020, focusing on Bangladesh’s economic and social progress. He highlighted the country’s improvements in education, healthcare, and women’s empowerment, challenging common negative stereotypes. Titled “The Real Bangladesh: A Peaceful and Progressive Nation,” the video did not receive as much attention when initially posted as it does now.

Dhruv Rathee’s Response to His Video Going Viral
Rathee responded to Poonawalla’s tweet, explaining that the video was made four years ago and accurately reflected Bangladesh’s situation at that time.
“This is a 4-year-old video. Everything said in this video was accurate back then based on the latest data. You are only proving your own stupidity by sharing it out of context and trying to mislead your followers,” Rathee wrote.
