Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis called Maratha agitation leader Manoj Jarange Patil on Monday to discuss the issue amid unrest in Maharashtra’s Jalna following a lathi charge on protestors over the Maratha reservation, according to the Deputy Chief Minister’s office. Udayanraje Bhosale, a Rajya Sabha member and a direct ancestor of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, also asked CM Eknath Shinde to hold a meeting to discuss the matter.
Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis talking to Jarange Patil over a call assured him that those who are responsible for the unfortunate incident of Jalna will be brought to justice, informed Deputy CMO.
Fadnavis also told Jarange Patil that discussions on the issue will surely find a way out of the situation and the government is hopeful that the meeting with Maratha agitation leaders will happen soon, added Deputy CMO.
The Chief Minister’s Office has announced that the meeting of the Maharashtra Cabinet subcommittee on Maratha Reservation will take place on Monday at 12 p.m. The CM and Deputy CM will both be present. Shinde had earlier on Saturday stated that the state government was committed to giving the Maratha community reservations.
