Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday conducted a comprehensive review of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of recent terror attacks in the Jammu region, according to reports.
During the review, PM Modi was accompanied by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and other senior officials. The Prime Minister was provided with a detailed briefing on the current security landscape in Jammu and Kashmir, focusing on the ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in response to the recent attacks.
Reports indicate that Prime Minister Modi emphasized the need to deploy the full spectrum of counter-terror capabilities to address the threat. He also engaged in discussions with Home Minister Amit Shah, deliberating on the deployment of security forces and the execution of counter-terror operations.
In addition, Prime Minister Modi spoke with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to assess the situation on the ground. He was briefed on the measures being taken by the local administration to ensure security and stability in the region.
The review follows a series of tragic incidents in Jammu and Kashmir. On Sunday, nine pilgrims were killed when their bus was attacked by terrorists in the Reasi district. The bus, subsequently losing control, plunged into a deep gorge after the driver was shot.
On Tuesday, an encounter in the Kathua district resulted in the deaths of a CRPF officer and two terrorists, following a militant attack on civilians in the Saida Sukhal village of Hiranagar.
Additionally, six security personnel lost their lives in a militant assault on a checkpoint in the Chattergala area of Bhaderwah. Last night, another incident in Gandoh of Bhadarwah left a policeman injured during an encounter.
The Prime Minister’s review and directives come as part of a broader effort to bolster security measures and ensure the safety of residents and visitors in Jammu and Kashmir.
