The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has extended the judicial custody of Manish Sisodia, former Deputy Chief Minister and prominent AAP leader, until July 6. This decision comes in connection with the CBI case pertaining to the Excise Policy.

Sisodia, along with other accused individuals, remains in custody over allegations raised by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) regarding irregularities in the Delhi liquor policy. Additionally, Sisodia faces charges in a money laundering case linked to the same alleged scam.

Both the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) have accused officials of modifying the Delhi excise policy with irregularities, granting unwarranted favors to license holders, and reducing or waiving license fees without proper approval from the competent authority. Furthermore, the agencies allege that the beneficiaries of these actions diverted “illegal” gains to the accused officials and falsified financial records to evade detection.

Manish Sisodia was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26, 2023, for his purported involvement in the scandal. Subsequently, on February 28 of the same year, Sisodia resigned from his position in the Delhi cabinet.
