The video of a Delhi-based Uber driver shows him throwing out passengers who had allegedly made anti-India remarks, such as saying, “You’re a Pakistani. Halala ki aulad ho tum log. [You guys are the offsprings of Halala].” The incident happened in the wee hours of August 9. The incident has since gone viral on social media, garnering mixed responses. He becomes angry on hearing the passengers’ criticism of Delhi and throws them out of the cab.

The first time, the driver asked them to stop being so disrespectful. As his request was left without success, he became furious and threw them out, using offensive words. The woman tried to make things clear that theirs was a criticism of the city, much unlike what he had interpreted, but he did not give in.

The video has been viewed more than 500,000 times since August 11. The reactions towards the video, however, kept coming back in mixed opinions. One user said, “And surprisingly people crying and calling the commuters as victims. What else one can do if you abuse India in the National Capital.” Another commented, “Whatever is the case or whosoever is the passenger, the driver should have remained silent and ignored the passenger’s discussions. “He must not get violent, abusive and make sure that the passenger reaches the destination.” Another wrote: “Cab driver is loyal to the country, salute to him. He might lose his job, but he didn’t give a second thought. Hats off to him. Anyone from any religion disrespecting our country should not be thrown out of a cab but also from the country. Jai Hind.”
