Delhi reports zero Covid deaths in 24 hours, first since April

So far, India has recorded over 1.08 crore confirmed Covid cases, including over 1.55 lakh deaths.

Today is the 321st day since India implemented a nationwide lockdown to help curb the novel coronavirus pandemic and this is the first time that zero deaths were recorded in the national capital. So far, India has recorded more than 1.08 crore confirmed Covid-19 cases, including over 1.55 lakh deaths. A total of 1.05 crore people have recuperated from Covid-19 in the country so far. However, there are 1.48 lakh active cases. India’s recovery rate continues to rise and now stands at 97.16 percent.

Delhi has not reported any new deaths due to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. This is the first since April. As of Tuesday, the national capital has registered a total of 6,36,260 coronavirus cases, with 100 new infections reported in 24 hours. The toll stood at 10,882. There are 1,052 active cases in the city.

Maharashtra reported 2,515 new coronavirus infections on Tuesday, taking the tally of cases in the state to 20,48,802. As many as 35 people succumbed to the disease, taking the total fatality count to 51,360.  A total of 2,554 patients were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday, taking the overall number of recoveries in Maharashtra to 19,61,525. The state now has 34,640 active cases.

Kerala recorded 5,214 Covid-19cases on Tuesday, pushing the caseload to 9,77,394, while the toll mounted to 3,902 with 19 additional fatalities. As many as 6,475 people were cured of the infection, taking the total recoveries to 9,09,102. The active cases touched 64,131.

Jammu and Kashmir recorded 55 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, taking its infection tally to 1,25,007, even as no fresh death due to the disease was reported in a span of 24 hours. The number of active cases was 593 in the union territory, while 1,22,470 patients have recovered so far. The death toll in the union territory due to the pandemic stands at 1,944.

Tamil Nadu on Tuesday recorded 469 new cases of coronavirus, with the total number of positive cases mounting to 8,42,730. Four deaths pushed the total number of fatalities to 12,391.

The seven states and Union Territories which reported zero deaths in the last week are Arunachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar, Tripura, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Nagaland, Mizoram and Lakshadweep. The figures of daily mortality per million population in India over the last seven days have been among the lowest in the world.
