Delhi Police Traffic Advisory for Independence Day 2024: Road Closures And Routes

The Delhi Traffic Police has released an advisory ahead of Independence Day celebrations on August 15, detailing road closures and alternative routes to ensure smooth traffic flow in the city.

The Delhi Traffic Police has released an advisory ahead of Independence Day celebrations on August 15, detailing road closures and alternative routes to ensure smooth traffic flow in the city.

According to the advisory, eight major roads, including Netaji Subhash Marg, Lothian Road, SP Mukherjee Marg, Chandni Chowk Road, Nishad Raj Marg, Esplanade Road and its Link Road, Ring Road from Rajghat to ISBT, and Outer Ring Road from ISBT to IP Flyover, will be closed to the general public from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday. Only vehicles with valid permissions will be allowed to access these roads during this time.

The advisory also urges commuters without parking labels for the rehearsal to avoid specific areas, including C-Hexagon, India Gate, Copernicus Marg, Mandi House, Sikandra Road, W Point, A Point Tilak Marg, Mathura Road, BSZ Marg, Netaji Subhash Marg, JL Nehru Marg, Ring Road between Nizamuddin Khatta and ISBT Kashmere Gate, and Outer Ring Road from Nizamuddin Khatta to ISBT Kashmere Gate via Salimgarh Bypass from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m.

For those traveling between north and south Delhi, alternative routes have been suggested, such as Aurobindo Marg, Safdarjung Road, Kamal Ataturk Marg, Kautilya Marg, SPM Marg, 11 Murti, Mother Teresa Crescent, Park Street, Mandir Marg, Panchkuian Road, and Rani Jhansi Road.

In the east-west corridor, traffic will be diverted to alternative routes like NH-24, Nizamuddin Khatta, Barapula Road, under AIIMS Flyover on the Ring Road, Nizamuddin Khatta, Ring Road, Mathura Road, Subramania Bharti Marg, Rajesh Pilot Marg, Prithviraj Road, and Safdarjung Road.

Additionally, inter-state buses will be restricted from operating between Maharana Pratap ISBT and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT from midnight on August 14-15 until 11 a.m. on August 15.

City buses, including those operated by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), will also be diverted away from Ring Road between ISBT and NH-24 (NH-9)/NH T-point from midnight on August 14-15 until 11 a.m. on August 15. These buses will follow alternative routes during this period.
