Delhi: Petrol reaches Rs 89.88 per litre, diesel Rs 80.27 per litre

New Delhi [India], February 18 (ANI): Petrol and diesel prices have gone up again in the national capital and stood at Rs 89.88 per litre and Rs 80.27 per litre, respectively on Thursday morning.
The price of petrol price saw a hike of 34 paise per litre today, while diesel price increased by 32 paise per litre.
Earlier, during her budget speech, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced the imposition of Agriculture Infrastructure and Development Cess (AIDC) of Rs 2.5 per litre on petrol and Rs 4 per litre on diesel.
The price of liquefied petroleum gas cylinder (14.2 kg domestic cylinder) has also increased by Rs 50 per unit in Delhi on February 14, taking the cost of LPG gas to Rs 769 per cylinder. (ANI)

PM to address 20 rallies in West Bengal, 6 in Assam

New Delhi [India], March 2 (ANI): Ahead of Assembly polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address 20 rallies in poll-bound West Bengal and six rallies in Assam, responding to the huge demand of local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders of these two states.
According to sources, the rallies are planned in such a way that all the 23 districts of West Bengal and 33 districts of Assam will be covered in these rallies.
“The demands of PM’s rally is huge in all poll-bound states but BJP is focusing more on West Bengal and Assam,” a source told ANI on Tuesday.
The BJP is also gearing up to reach up to the expectations of local BJP unit to meet the demand of rallies.
BJP functionaries including Kailash Vijayvargiya, national General Secretary, Mukul Roy national Vice-President, Sanjay Singh, General Secretary and Swapan Dasgupta, MP, Rajya Sabha are looking into the preparations at Brigade Parade Ground, where PM Modi will address public meeting on March 7 at Brigade ground, Kolkata. This will be PM Modi’s first rally in West Bengal post the announcement of election dates by Election Commission of India (ECI).
The core committe of BJP’s West Bengal unit will hold a meeting here at party headquarter on Wednesday in presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party chief JP Nadda. They will discuss election strategy and will also discuss expected candidates for the upcoming polls of West Bengal.
West Bengal Assembly elections will be held in eight phases starting from March 27 with the final round of voting taking place on April 29. Counting of votes will take place on May 2.
In Assam, the Assembly elections shall be held in three phases beginning from March 27 with the final round of voting taking place on April 6. Counting of votes will take place on May 2. (ANI)

Priyanka Gandhi tries hand at plucking tea leaves in Assam during campaign

Biswanath (Assam) [India], March 2 (ANI): Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who is on a two-day visit to poll-bound Assam, was on Tuesday seen plucking tea leaves with estate workers at Sadhuru tea garden in Biswanath district.
Dressed in a saree, the 49-year-old had a basket on her back balanced by a band on her head. She was also armoured with an apron at her waist as she took on the job of plucking tea leaves.
“The life of tea garden workers is full of truth and simplicity and their labour is valuable for the country. After sitting with them today, I understood their work, felt well being of their families and the difficulties of their life,” Gandhi tweeted along with pictures of herself interacting with the tea workers.
“I will not forget the love I received from them,” she added.
Earlier in the day, she received a rousing welcome at the tea garden, photos of which were shared by the Congress on their official Twitter handle.
On Monday, the Congress General Secretary had offered prayers at the Kamakhya Temple.
Assam assembly elections will be held in three phases. In the first phase, 47 seats in 12 districts will go to the polls on March 27. In the second phase, 39 constituencies in 13 districts will go to the polls on April 1 while 40 assembly constituencies in 12 districts to go on polls on April 6.
The counting of votes will take place on May 2. (ANI)

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi gets first shot of COVID-19 vaccine in UP

Rampur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], March 2 (ANI): Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Tuesday received the first shot of COVID-19 vaccine at Dalmiya hospital in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh.
“Took first dose of Corona vaccine at Dalmiya Hospital in Rampur (UP) today. #IndiaFightsCorona #LargestVaccineDrive,” he tweeted.
Earlier on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi administered the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi and appealed to all those who are eligible to get inoculated.
India commenced its third phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive to inoculate people above 60 years and those over 45 with comorbidities against the coronavirus from March 1.
The eligible beneficiaries who are entitled to receive the Covid-19 vaccine from March 1, were able to register themselves on the Co-WIN platform from Monday onwards.
The Central government has created the Co-WIN application dedicated to monitor real-time management of Covid-19 vaccination across the country.
The Union Health Ministry on Tuesday informed that a total of 1,48,54,136 people in the country have been vaccinated against COVID-19 so far.
As many as 12,286 new COVID-19 cases and 91 deaths were reported in India in the last 24 hours. With 12,464 fresh recoveries, the cumulative discharges reached 1,07,98,921.
The total coronavirus caseload in the country has gone up to 1,11,24,527, including 1,68,358 active cases and 1,57,248 deaths. (ANI)

Farooq Abdullah gets first dose of COVID-19 vaccine

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], March 2 (ANI): National Conference MP Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday got his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Science in Srinagar.
His son and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah urged people to get vaccinated and said that despite several health issues his 85-year-old father had taken the vaccine.
“Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at SKIMS, Srinagar. Today my 85-year-old father and my mother had their first COVID jab. My father has a number of health issues including being on immunosuppressants for a kidney transplant. If he can get the vaccine, you should as well,” Omar Abdullah tweeted.

Harsh Vardhan takes first jab of COVID-19 vaccine

New Delhi [India], March 2 (ANI): Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Tuesday took the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine at Delhi Heart and Lung Institute here.
His wife also took the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine here.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday kicked off the second phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive in the country by getting the vaccine shot.
Harsh Vardhan had earlier praised PM Modi for leading by example by getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
The second phase of the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive for age-appropriate population groups began on Monday with the Union Health Ministry calling out eligible people to get an appointment at respective hospitals in the country.
Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Monday had also pointed out that in the next few days the “walk-in system” for people will be further streamlined in states to ensure smooth functioning.
The Union Health Ministry on Tuesday informed that a total of 1,48,54,136 people in the country have been vaccinated against COVID-19 so far.
