Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister, has ordered the immediate suspension of two teachers and the vice principal of a Delhi government school where two boys were allegedly sexually molested by classmates in April of this year.

On Tuesday, Delhi Education Minister Atishi claimed Kejriwal has ordered disciplinary action against the guilty for failing to report the incident to the police.

In a letter to the Education Secretary, Atishi said, “It is Our responsibility to ensure all children are safe and secure in our schools.”

“And if any such instances of child sexual abuse are brought to light, then appropriate legal action has to be taken. We have to take all possible steps to ensure that such an instance is not repeated in our schools,” she wrote.

She went on to say that the tragedy should “cause us to reflect and take corrective action.” We must do everything possible to keep children safe and secure at all times.”
Atishi went on to say that Kejriwal has asked the Directorate of Education to guarantee that all principals and teachers receive thorough POCSO training.

Among the actions mandated by the chief minister are mandatory reporting of such instances, instruments for early identification of abuse, forms of abuse, the impact of abuse on children, and corrective measures enabling capacity building of instructors to support such kids.
