Health minister of Delhi Saurabh Bhardwaj holds a meeting regarding the preparedness against Dengue on Friday.
This meeting was attended by many departments of the secretariat and managing directors of hospital.
Talking to ANI, Delhi’s health minister said, ‘When the rainy season starts, the risk of dengue, chikungunya, and malaria increases. In such a situation, discussions are held with all the departments. We have sent instructions to DDA, MCD, PWD, NDMC, and the Health Department to ensure that water does not accumulate in their respective jurisdictions so that breeding does not occur. Hospitals have also been alerted to keep all the information related to dengue…We had a meeting with the Health Department on this subject 2-3 days ago, today a meeting of all the departments has been held. On Monday, we called the MDs of the hospitals so that the preparation of the hospitals can be reviewed.’
Meanwhile, the Delhi government also conducted emergency meeting following heavy rains and waterlogging in the city on Friday.
As per Atishi, several important decisions were taken during the meeting. Later, talking about waterlogging, she asserted, that Delhi has received rainfall more than the capacity of the drainage. As a result, waterlogging was witnessed in various parts of the city.
‘We have identified around 200 hotspots till the last rain. Out of these, 40 hotspots are under CCTV surveillance by PWD… You have to understand that if Delhi receives rainfall of 228 mm, then it will take time to decrease the water level… Right now, Delhi has received more rainfall than the capacity of the drains. That’s why we are witnessing waterlogging at several places…,’ said Atishi.
