The order on the plea moved by former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has been reserved by the Division Bench of Delhi High Court on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Uddhav Thackeray challenged the Single bench order which earlier rejected Thackeray’s plea against the Election Commission’s order for freezing the symbol (Bow and Arrow) and the name of the Shivsena political party.

After hearing the arguments the order has been reserved by Chief Justice Satish Chander Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad.

Earlier in November, the plea was dismissed by the Bench of Justice Sanjeev Narula who directed the ECI to decide the dispute.

The petition filed by Uddhav Thackeray sought direction to quash the order passed by the ECI to freeze the election symbol of the Shivsena Political Party.

“This is purely an interim arrangement. The commission will decide the matter after hearing all parties,” Election Commission counsel told the court.

However, on 19 June 1996 Shivsena was founded by Late Balasaheb Thackeray to espouse the legacy of the Maratha King Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

under the Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 1968 (hereinafter, Symbols Order’), Party is a recognized state party and has been allotted the ‘Bow and Arrow’ symbol.
