According to the fire service, a large fire broke out at a footwear factory in west Delhi’s Udyog Nagar on Sunday morning.
Initially, four fire tenders were deployed to the scene, and an operation to extinguish the fire is continuing, according to department officials, who added that more fire tenders are on their way as the fire continued to flare, emitting dense gases into the sky.
There have been no reports of casualties, but officials said it will be clearer once the flames were put out. According to a fire department spokesman, the fire started at a shoe production unit in the region, which also houses numerous other factories.
According to the official, the dense black vapors rising from the blaze site were most likely caused by massive amounts of flammable goods stored at these firms.
