Victim’s Father Calls for Action

The father of the 14-year-old victim, a resident of Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, has expressed his frustration and anger. “We want bulldozer justice. The government should not spare the accused and should raze their houses,” Mohammad Farooq, a representative from the victim’s village, stated.

Details of the Crime

The incident occurred on August 12 when the victim was waiting for a bus to Punjab at Delhi’s Kashmere Gate Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT). The accused, who included bus drivers and conductors from the Dehradun depot, offered her a ride. Upon reaching Dehradun, they drove the bus to a secluded spot at ISBT and, along with three accomplices, assaulted the girl.

Investigation and Arrests

The case came to light when a guard at ISBT noticed the victim alone at the bus stand on the night of August 12-13. The minor was rescued and placed in a child rights shelter home, where it took four days for her to recount the details of her ordeal. SSP Ajey Singh reported that CCTV footage helped identify one of the suspects, leading to the arrest of all five individuals, including two drivers, two conductors, and a cashier.

Legal Proceedings

The suspects have been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and are currently in judicial custody. Police investigations revealed that the accused took turns raping the minor inside the bus.

The severity of the crime and the demand for immediate justice highlight the ongoing issues of safety and accountability within the transport sector and beyond.
