In a shocking incident, a deputy director from a training institute under the Ministry of Defence fell victim to a brazen robbery in South Delhi’s Lodhi Colony. Two men on a motorcycle snatched her iPhone, causing injuries to her face during the scuffle. The incident occurred on September 26.

Snatching Incident Outside Restaurant

The complainant, who was leaving a restaurant around 9:40 PM after dining with friends, recounted the terrifying incident. “I had come for dinner with my friends, and as I stepped out, a suspicious individual approached from behind and snatched my iPhone 15 Pro,” she told police. The thieves were reportedly wearing blue and black clothing, with their faces covered, and sped away on a red motorcycle.

Woman Suffers Facial Injuries

In addition to the loss of her phone, the victim sustained injuries to her face during the incident. She raised concerns about the sensitive data stored on her phone, stating, “My office usage number and all data on the phone are of serious concern. Kindly help in finding the phone back.”

Police Investigation Underway

The Delhi Police have launched an investigation, forming multiple teams to locate the suspects. CCTV footage from the area is being examined to trace the route taken by the assailants. A police spokesperson confirmed that a case has been registered under sections 304 (2) (snatching) and 3 (5) (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

Recent Rise in Snatching Cases

This incident closely follows another alarming case in the same area. Just days earlier, a 40-year-old CRPF constable had his phone snatched while waiting at a bus stop in Lodhi Colony.

The growing number of snatching cases has raised concerns across Delhi. Police records show 4,316 reported cases of snatching in the city as of August this year, highlighting the escalating problem of street crimes in the capital.
