India’s Defense Minister, Rajnath Singh, embraced the spirit of Holi by joining soldiers stationed in Leh for the vibrant festivities on March 24, 2024. Accompanied by Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande and General Officer Commanding, Fire and Fury Corps Lt Gen Rashim Bali, the Minister lauded the courage and dedication of the troops serving in challenging environments to safeguard the nation.
Addressing the soldiers, Rajnath Singh hailed their unwavering resolve and selflessness amid harsh terrains and extreme weather conditions. He emphasized that Ladakh epitomizes India’s spirit of valor and bravery, akin to Delhi’s status as the national capital, Mumbai’s financial prominence, and Bengaluru’s technological prowess.
“The entire country finds solace in the protection offered by our brave soldiers along the borders. Our progress and prosperity are indebted to the vigilance of our troops stationed at the frontiers. Each citizen takes pride in our Armed Forces, recognizing the sacrifices they make by staying away from their families, ensuring peaceful celebrations of festivals like Holi,” remarked Shri Rajnath Singh.
The Defense Minister expressed his belief in commencing festival celebrations with the soldiers a day in advance, urging the Service Chiefs to establish this tradition. He envisioned such celebrations becoming integral across varied terrains, from the snowy peaks of Kargil to the scorching plains of Rajasthan and even aboard submarines navigating the deep seas.
As a mark of respect, Rajnath Singh laid a wreath at the War Memorial in Leh, honoring the supreme sacrifices made by brave soldiers in the service of the nation. Despite initial plans to celebrate Holi with troops stationed in Siachen, adverse weather conditions prompted a change in schedule. Undeterred, the Minister connected with soldiers in the world’s highest battlefield over the phone, extending warm Holi greetings and assuring them of an upcoming visit.
Rajnath Singh’s celebration of Holi with soldiers underscores the government’s recognition and appreciation of the tireless efforts and sacrifices made by the armed forces, ensuring the nation’s security and sovereignty.
