DCW issues notice to social media platforms over offensive content

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has sent notices to major social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok, seeking information about the action taken by them against the content that promotes violence and exploitation.

Recently, a viral video was seen on Tiktok promoting acid attacks against women. This created a huge controversy and people demanded that TikTok be banned in India. Social media platforms have to share the information with DCW by 25 May, failing which appropriate action will be taken.
