The World Wrestling Championships will be held in Belgrade, Serbia from 10 September to 18 September 2022, and trials for the Championships took place under the aegis of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).

WFI exempted Ravi Dahiya, Tokyo Olympic Games silver medallist, Bajrang Punia, Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist, and Deepak Punia, silver medallist of World Wrestling in 2019 in 57 kg, 65 kg, and 87 kg freestyle categories respectively.

Bajrang and Deepak Punia are currently training in the USA while Ravi Dahiya is training in Russia. In the 61 Kg FS category, Pankaj Malik of Services defeated the former CWG gold medallist Rahul Aware. Naveen from Haryana defeated Vishal Kaliraman of Railways in the final of 70 Kg category. Naveen won gold in CWG in 74 kg category. A tough bout was seen between Sagar Jagland and Yash in 74 kg final, and Jaglan won 3-2. At a moment he was leading 3-0 in the 79 kg category, Deepak (SSCB) defeated Sachin Rathee (SSCB), in 92 kg category, Vicky Hooda (Haryana) defeated Parthvi Raj Patil (Maharashtra), in 97 kg, Vicky Chahar (SSCB) defeated Neeraj (Haryana) and in 125 kg, Dinesh Dhankad (Haryana) defeated Anirudh of Delhi and earned his spot in the Indian team.
