The Supreme Court granted bail to TMC leader Saket Gokhale on Monday in a case involving alleged irregularities in crowdfunding funds.

A bench of justices BR Gavai and Vikram Nath granted Gokhale’s application, noting that a chargesheet in the case had been filed. Gokhale’s counsel informed the court that he had been imprisoned for 108 days. Respondent’s Additional Solicitor General SV Raju objected to Gokhale’s plea.

Gokhale appealed the Gujarat High Court’s refusal to release him on bail in a case involving alleged irregularities in crowdfunding funds. On January 23, the Gujarat High Court dismissed Gokhale’s petition.

The TMC Spokesperson was arrested on December 30 last year in Delhi by the Cyber Crime Branch of the Ahmedabad Police in connection with the alleged misappropriation of crowdfunded funds in Gujarat.
He was charged with various counts of cheating, forgery, and criminal breach of trust.

Previously, Gokhale was arrested by Gujarat Police on December 6 for allegedly spreading false information about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Morbi in Gujarat following the suspension bridge collapse tragedy.
