In this exclusive interview, we embark on a journey to know Mousumi Kalita Sachdeva in depth-

Q. Can you share a bit about your journey as an author and how you ventured into the world of writing?
A. I picked my wings for this journey at a very young age. My first published work was when I was in the third standard and since then I never left my pen and words. I always wanted to be a journalist but never knew this desire would bury me in the world of books. I began my journey as a poet and then a columnist, an Editor of books, and finally an Author. I actually can’t say ‘finally’ as I don’t know where this journey will lead me to, as I am now running a publishing house by the name Griffin Publication.

Q. How do you come up with ideas for your books? Are there specific sources of inspiration that you frequently draw upon?
A. I draw stories from real lives. All my books have a true story behind them. Of course, I spice up the Romantic stories. However, my books such as ‘Making Impossible Possible’ and ‘Pride of Being Different’ are based on complete true stories.

Your works span across different genres. We have come to know about your latest book ‘Punctuations Matter’. How do you choose the genre for each of your books, and do you have a favourite genre to write in?
I love to explore different genres, although my favourite is Romance. My books carry true stories, facts, and truth of the society. Based on that I decide if I must weave my stories with romance, m++ otivation, or make it revolutionary. ‘Punctuations Matter’ is quite similar to a storytelling Grammar book written specifically for students and writers where the rules of punctuation are simplified with light-hearted stories.

Q. Many readers admire your book ‘Love Remains Undefined’. Can you share the inspiration behind it and any challenges you faced during its creation?
A. Oh! My first baby and my favourite! Yes, this book has been admired by many and my readers have written emotional messages asking for a sequel of this book. The inspiration behind it is of course a true tale, and let me tell you, it was as if I had been narrating what was ongoing in the present. There were many challenges as I had to accurately pen episodes of a story having only two main characters. Many sleepless nights and conversations with the real protagonist made it interesting as well as challenging.

Q. What advice would you give to aspiring writers who are just starting their journey?
A. Every aspiring writer must cultivate the habit of reading to begin their literary journey. To the present generation of writers, I offer a gentle reminder: harness the power of your own creative faculties. Never rely on AI to write your story or your book. This dependency on AI will kill your creativity. Embrace the freedom to explore your creativity, allowing it to flourish independently of technological dependencies.

Q. Are there any new genres or themes you are excited to explore in your future writing?
A. Yes, I am working on a Mythological Verse Book which I would not prefer to talk much about now.

Conclusion: It was really great knowing so much about your literary journey. We hope the young generation can follow your words and build a beautiful literary career. Thank you!
