On the claim of Chandigarh Police to crack down on those who fire crackers from Bullet motorcycles with modified silencers, the Punjab-Haryana High Court has ordered to submit the details of the challans issued so far through a detailed affidavit.
The matter is related to a PIL filed by Dr. Bhavneet Goyal regarding the trouble caused to people by the loud sound emanating from modified silencers. Earlier, when the UT police had approached the High Court with the data related to challans, the High Court had termed all these as mere paperwork. The court had said that it is accepted that to a large extent the number of people making noise with bullet motorcycles has reduced, but there are still people who create terror with it.
The court had said that everyone knows that modifying silencers is banned and the court is strictly hearing this matter, despite this, the people riding such bikes are directly disobeying the court. The court had said that in this way, the youth are roaming around the city taking the law in their own hands and the police is unable to control them. This directly shows how capable the police is.
While reprimanding the UT police for bursting crackers from a Bullet motorcycle, the High Court had said that we have to know at any cost who he is and how influential he is that he neither cares about the police nor the court orders. Despite knowing everything, bursting crackers from a Bullet motorcycle is not only a contempt of court orders but also an insult to the court.
