Covid-19 has struck hard and deep in Bollywood. It has only been a week since film and TV shoots resumed, but the industry’s most famous family has been hit by the virus. The shocking news of superstar Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek testing positive for Covid-19 was followed by reports of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Aaardhya Bachchan getting infected by this virus. They have been self-quarantining at home. Amitabh and Abhishek are under medical observation at the isolation ward of Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital.
Thankfully, other members of the Bachchan family: Jaya Bachchan, Agastya Nanda, Navya Naveli Nanda and Shweta Bachchan Nanda have tested negative.
Abhishek recently featured in Breathe: Into The Shadows with Nithya Menen and Amit Sadh. Sadh will also get tested for corona as he dubbed in the same studio.
Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan tweeted, “My best wishes for a young, brilliant actor with a most charming smile! Take good care of yourself dear @juniorbachchan and of your father @SrBachchan ji too. Am sure both of you will bounce back to perfect health soon. The Bachchans rule our hearts. Our prayers for you!”
Anupam Kher’s mother Dulari Kher, who tested positive for coronavirus, is admitted in Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. The actor took to social media to announce the news. “This is to inform all that my mother Dulari is found Covid-19 positive (mildly). We have admitted her to Kokilaben Hospital. My brother, bhabhi and niece, in spite of being careful, have also tested mildly positive. I got myself tested and have tested negative,” Kher tweeted.
Rekha’s bungalow at Bandra was sealed by the BMC after her security guards were found positive for this virus. Outside her Sea Springbungalow, BMC has put the board of contaminated zone.
Meanwhile, Amitabh’s four bungalows—Jalsa, Janak, Pratiksha and Vatsa—have been sealed and declared contaminated zone. BMC has sanitised the entire area and Bachchan family’s 28 drivers and housekeeping staff have been sent for quarantine, they have been tested and the reports will come on Monday.
TV actor Parth Samthan days after returning to the shoot of Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 has also tested positive for coronavirus. The shoot has been cancelled and the entire crew and staff are under quarantine.
Zoa Morani also got the virus and has since recovered. Domestic staff at Aamir Khan, Karan Johar and Boney Kapoor’s house were previously found Covid-19 positive.
While the shooting has started, actors are finding it hard to escape from the claws of this deadly virus. BMC has informed Mumbaikars to not step outside until there is urgent work.
