The consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya marks the beginning of a new era in India, leaving a historical imprint for future generations to learn from. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his speech, emphasized the transcendence of the event beyond politics, urging unity.
However, notable absences, including Congress, were seen, sparking criticism. Modi, without directly naming opponents, elucidated the universal nature of Lord Ram, emphasizing him as an energy source, a solution, and a shared heritage.
Despite the inclusive participation of saints from diverse religious backgrounds, Congress’s decision to distance itself from the ceremony fuelled public resentment. The party’s strategic choices and appeasement policies were criticised, making them appear detached from the cultural sentiments of the majority. Even amidst attacks on Rahul Gandhi, the high command’s call for protests seemed out of touch with the celebratory spirit engulfing the nation.
The ceremony elevated Modi’s image as a prominent figure in Sanatan Dharma, positioning him as a symbol of religious values. His observance of an 11-day fast, sleeping on the ground and active participation in the puja conveyed a profound commitment to his culture.
