As Maharashtra Assembly elections approach, Congress announced its first list of 48 candidates on Tuesday. Senior leaders Nana Patole and Prithviraj Chavan are included in this initial lineup. Former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan is set to contest from Karad South, while former Minister Nitin Raut will again represent Nagpur North.
The Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance previously agreed that Congress, NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Shiv Sena (UBT) would each contest for 85 seats. However, discussions are still ongoing regarding the allocation of the remaining 18 seats in the 288-member Assembly.
Maharashtra’s polling is scheduled for November 20, with results expected on November 2.
