The Congress will stage a virtual protest against the Modi government’s policy on migrants and poor. The virtual protest, which aims to seek participation from 50 lakh people on various social platforms, will be conducted under the banner of “Speak Up India”. Speaking to The Daily Guardian, the social media in-charge of the Congress, Rohan Gupta, said that it would perhaps be the world’s first such virtual protest where over 50 lakh people along with Congress leaders, workers, Pradesh Congress Committees will join in, on all congress social platforms.

The participants with broadcast their stories, interactions, live speeches, recorded interviews of people on the ground. Gupta added that the party would make two demands to the Modi government: First, all migrants should be sent back to their native places without charging anything; second, all the poor of this country should immediately get Rs 10,000 as severance for the harsh conditions under quarantine and lockdown.

The Congress have instructed all leaders from national to district level to actively participate and 50,000 workers have been mapped so far to make the social media protest a big hit with the general public. It has been ascertained that all top-ranking leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, will be joining this virtual protest against the Centre.
