On India’s 75th Republic Day, Pawan Bansal, a senior Congress leader, extended heartfelt wishes to Chandigarh and the entire nation. He emphasized the significance of January 26, 1950, when India, having gained independence in 1947, formally adopted its constitution, marking the true sovereignty of the nation. Bansal highlighted the paramount importance of the constitution as the supreme law of the land, shaping the country’s governance.
In his message, Bansal urged citizens to reflect on the essence of the constitution, considering it the bedrock of the nation’s sentiments. He stressed that celebrating nationalism should go hand in hand with strengthening constitutionalism for genuine progress. Bansal emphasized, “If the constitution is not adhered to in this country, genuine progress is unattainable.”
Seizing the occasion, Pawan Bansal called for a collective commitment to reinforcing the principles outlined in the constitution. He asserted that there should be no compromise on constitutional values anywhere in the nation. According to Bansal, this responsibility lies with the citizens, urging everyone to unite for the preservation and adherence to the constitution.
