The Congress’ candidate for the Karanpur Assembly constituency in Rajasthan, Gurmeet Singh Kooner, 75, passed away during treatment at AIIMS-Delhi, as confirmed by party leaders on Wednesday.
He had been admitted to the Geriatric Medicine Ward at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi three days ago.
According to the death certificate issued by the hospital, Kooner succumbed to sepsis with septic shock and renal disease.
Additionally, Gurmeet Singh Kooner was contending with hypertension. The demise comes ahead of the polls for the 200-member Rajasthan assembly, scheduled for November 25.
