Amidst the crisis engulfing AAP, Congress has declared its support for the party, for the forthcoming elections for the positions of Mayor and Deputy Mayor in Delhi. As per the chairman of Congress’s Committee Communication Department Delhi, former MLA Anil Bhardwaj has revealed that the seniors of the grand old party had a meeting.

Where they concluded that the Congress party would lend its support to AAP candidates in the mayor’s election.

“The decision was taken so that the people of Delhi are not troubled, and their work gets done,” Bhardwaj told PTI.

Early this week, AAP chose Mahesh Khichi from Karol Bagh’s Dev Nagar Ward-84 as its candidate for the MCD elections of Delhi mayor polls.

For the position of Deputy Mayor, AAP has chosen Ravindra Bhardwaj, from Aman Vihar of the Kirari Assembly constituency.

Meanwhile the BJP has chosen Kishan Lal and Neeta Bisht for mayor and deputy mayor respectively.

Further Aam Aadmi party and congress are in alliance for the general elections in Delhi.

So far, the MCD has asked for the permission from election commission for conducting the mayoral polls, as it compulsory for the municipal body during ongoing Lok Sabha Elections. Has also asked the Lt Governor VK Saxena to make an appointment of presiding officer.

The MCD elections in Delhi are scheduled to be held on April 26th, 2024.
