COMMITTEE APPROVES PURCHASES WORTH OVER RS 100 CRORE AFTER MEET

CHANDIGARH: The meeting of the High Powered Purchase Committee (HPPC) has given nod to purchases of goods and items to be procured by various departments worth more than Rs 100 crore. Three agendas, including two of education and one of power department, were tabled in the meeting. Education Minister Kanwar Pal and Transport Minister Mool Chand Sharma were also present.

Pal said that procurement of Personalized and Adaptive Learning (PAL) software costing more than Rs 5 crore for classes IX to XII was also approved in the meeting. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar Lal.

This PAL software will be preloaded in the tablets which would be provided to students studying in these classes for 10 subjects, said the education minister.

Besides this, procurement of around 5 lakh Data SIM Cards costing Rs 47 crore has also been approved by the committee. These SIM cards would be inserted into the tablets with a daily data limit of 2GB. Also, in May around 2.5 lakh tabs would be distributed to the students studying in classes X to XII, said Pal.

The minister further informed that committee has also given nod for the procurement of supply of 11 meter long PCC poles for meeting the requirements of Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) costing Rs 48.89 crore.

Additional Chief Secretary, Power Department, P K Das, Additional Chief Secretary, School Education Department, Mahavir Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, V. Umashankar, Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department, Vijayendra Kumar, Director General, Secondary Education, J. Ganesan and other officers also remained present on this occasion.
