The Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector 50, Chandigarh, joyously commemorated the 14th National Voter Day with a myriad of Inter-College competitions, meticulously organized by the Electoral Literacy Club.
Welcoming the esteemed Chief Guest, Mr. Dinesh Rana, Election Supervisor (South) from the
Office of Accountant General Punjab and UT, Chandigarh, the College Principal, Dr. Sangam Kapoor, presented a plant sapling. The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp by Dr. Kapoor and all the distinguished judges in attendance.
The vibrant day unfolded with the resonating notes of “Main Bharat Hu- Voter Anthem,” followed by the introduction of the judges for the Declamation event, Dr. Aarti Kuashal and Ms. Ritika Verma, NSS National Best Volunteer Awardee -2020-21, for the literary competitions. The Fine Arts competition had judges Dr. Bikramjit Kaur, Dr. Sarbjit Kaur, and Ms. Sandeep.
Dr. Kapoor inspired the gathered students from various colleges of Panjab University to cast their votes and encourage their families and neighbors to do the same. The competitions featured intellectually stimulating events, including “Buzzing Brains – Quiz” on the topic “India in Elections,” “Echo – Declamation” on the topic “Role of Social Media in Influencing Citizens of India and Abroad,” “Toggle – Tongue Twister” on “National Youth Indian Figures,” and “Master Stroke – Poster-Making” on the topic “Nothing Like Voting, I Will Vote for Sure.”
In collaboration with Anvi- Environment Club and Eco Club of the college, a competition titled “Litter Glitter, Voter’s Choice” was organized. Participants included the Panjab University Open NSS Unit and affiliated Government and Private colleges. Additionally, a Nuddak Natak was performed by college students to convey the crucial message of “Why Voting is Important and How to Keep Them Fair?”
The Dean, Dr. Amarpreet S. Sijher, alongside Dr. V Magesh and Dr. Renuka Mehra, the Nodal Officer of the Electoral Literacy Club, distributed cash prizes and medals to the deserving winners. The event culminated with the rendition of the National Anthem and a collective oath to vote for India.
