Pakistan’s Punjab and Quetta were blocked in Der Ghazi Khan on Sunday. Hundreds of coal mine contractors blocked the Quetta-Loralai route in the Duki area. The protestors went on to set fire to tyres and erect barricades.
The reason behind the protest was the administration’s alleged failure to apprehend those extorting money from contractors and coal mine owners. According to the reports, the individuals also opened fire on their trucks delivering coal from Duki and other Balochistan mining regions to Punjab.
The protest was staged on both carriageways and the demonstrators revealed that despite filing FIRs the accused is still not taken into custody.
