On the auspicious occasions of Lord Vishwakarma’s birth anniversary and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal unveiled a series of welfare measures for the benefit of industrial workers and their families. The announcements came during a state-level function at Vishwakarma Skills University in the Palwal district today.
During his address, Chief Minister Manohar Lal praised Prime Minister Modi as a visionary leader who has advanced India through innovation and dedicated service. Extending heartfelt wishes on the Prime Minister’s birthday, he prayed for his continued and long service to the nation.
Effective immediately, the Chief Minister declared that both sons and daughters of industrial workers would be eligible for equal scholarship amounts, ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 21,000, applicable for students from 9th grade through to medical degree programs. Moreover, daughters of industrial workers pursuing higher education at the graduation level will receive a grant of Rs 50,000 towards the purchase of electric scooters to facilitate mobility and independence.
He also announced an increase in financial assistance for workers buying bicycles — the grant amount has been raised from Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000. Similarly, the grant for women workers purchasing sewing machines will see a hike, going up from Rs 3,500 to Rs 4,500.
In a move to encourage healthy lifestyles amongst workers suffering from chronic diseases, a monthly stipend of Rs 2,000 will be provided to support healthy eating habits. The Chief Minister revealed plans to open ESI dispensaries in Fatehabad as well as in Harsaru, Kadipur, and Wazirabad of the Gurugram district, and to introduce ECG facilities in all ESI dispensaries throughout Haryana.
Addressing the housing concerns of workers who often have to migrate for employment opportunities, it was announced that the government will offer 500 flats in each district of Faridabad, Gurugram, Sonipat, and Yamuna Nagar in the first phase. This initiative aims to provide safe and affordable housing options.
The Chief Minister also introduced the “Guru Shishya Kaushal Samman Yojana” at the Vishwakarma Skill University. The program intends to identify and certify the skills of 25,000 craftsmen, artisans, and informal sector workers over a span of five years, with a budget allocation of Rs 208.66 crores. Designed to foster skill-based apprenticeship training, the initiative aims to benefit 75,000 youths, leading to higher salaries, self-employment, and entrepreneurship opportunities for successful trainees.
This comprehensive series of welfare initiatives underscores the Manohar Lal-led government’s commitment to fostering a more equitable and prosperous society by focusing on the wellbeing and development of the industrious labor force.
