Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, expressed gratitude and announced an incentive of Rs 50,000 for each rescue personnel involved in the Silkyara Tunnel operation. Following a visit to Chinyalisaur Hospital, where he met the rescued workers, Dhami confirmed their health and assured them that they were in good condition.

“I have just met everyone and everyone is healthy and all of their family members are happy. They have been fully examined and there is no health problem as such,” said Dhami. Additionally, the Chief Minister disbursed cheques of Rs 1 lakh to the trapped workers, as announced earlier. Moreover, the state government will reward the rescue workers who undertook the tunnel operation with Rs 50,000.

In terms of accountability, CM Dhami emphasized the Government of India’s directive to conduct a nationwide safety audit of tunnel construction projects.

All 41 workers who had been trapped in the Silkyari tunnel since November 12 were successfully evacuated on Tuesday evening. The rescued workers were greeted with orange marigold flower garlands by CM Dhami and Union Minister VK Singh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the courage and patience of the trapped workers and their families, praising their resilience during the ordeal. PM Modi’s heartfelt message on social media conveyed his best wishes for the workers’ well-being and commended everyone involved for their exemplary humanity and teamwork displayed throughout the mission.
