In the wake of the targeted civilian killings in Kashmir, yet another incident took place in the downtown area of Srinagar. On Monday evening, around 8 pm, unidentified gunmen shot Ibrahim, 40, in Bohrikadal area of Srinagar. Ibrahim, who was a senior salesman at Sandeep Mawa›s shop, later succumbed to his injuries at SMHS hospital.

It is pertinent to mention that Sandeep Mawa, who is a businessman, is a Kashmiri Pandit.

“The doctors declared him brought dead,” a police official told The Daily Guardian.

“Around 8 pm, Ibrahim left and told me that he will take Mawa’s car to Karanagar. While I was locking down the shop, I heard four to five gunshots. I rushed to the alley where Mawa’s (white) SUV was parked, and found Ibrahim lying in the car, in a pool of blood,” Javid Ahmad, who works as an accountant in Mawa’s shop, told The Daily Guardian.

“Probably the gunmen mistook Ibrahim as Mawa and fired at him from a close range,” Javid added.

The police official told The Daily Guardian that they recovered 4 bullet cartridges from the site and the matter would be further investigated.  Meanwhile, no terrorist outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack, and the assailants are unidentified.

Another salesman told The Daily Guardian that Sandeep Mawa had come to the  shop during the early hours of Monday morning in his Mahindra SUV. Mawa had kept the car parked in an alley adjacent to the shop, and after some time left for his home.

A source told The Daily Guardian that Mawa is the relative of Makhan Lal Bindroo, a chemist who was recently shot dead by terrorists in Srinagar.

Ibrahim’s killing is the second incident that happened in the past few days. On Sunday evening, A cop was shot dead near his residence in Batamaloo, Srinagar.

Ibrahim hails from Alamdar Colony, Danmar Eidgah, the same area where Satinder Kour (50), principal of Government Boys Higher Secondary school, and a teacher, Deepak Chand, were shot dead inside the school premises by terrorists in October.
