What should have been a joyous occasion turned into a nightmare for a 30-year-old woman from Shanghai after giving birth via C-section. According to a report by Oddity Central, the new mother recounted that her husband stared at their newborn with bewilderment and refused to hold the baby. He was unsettled by the baby’s dark skin and immediately demanded a paternity test, leaving her feeling betrayed and disheartened.

The woman, admitting she also found the baby’s dark skin unusual, clarified, “I had never been to Africa, and didn’t know any black people.” She reluctantly agreed to the paternity test despite being certain of her fidelity, but shared that the damage to their trust was already done.

Seeking advice on how to save her marriage, the woman posted her ordeal on social media. Her story quickly went viral, with many expressing sympathy and offering support. Numerous commenters explained that it is common for newborns to have darker skin due to factors like thin skin and poor circulation, which often improve over time.

“This is very common. Newborns often have dark red skin that will gradually lighten over time,” noted one commenter. An expert added that the phenomenon is entirely natural.

While many rallied behind the mother, some criticized the husband for his behavior, expressing concern about his lack of trust in her. The incident sparked discussions about relationships, faith, and the misconceptions surrounding newborn skin tones.
