On the occasion of India’s 77th Independence Day, global leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, French President Emmanuel Macron, and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, underscored their “special”, “privileged”, and “strategic” ties with New Delhi.
Putin conveyed greetings to India’s President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasising the importance Russia places on its relationship with India. “We attach great importance to our special and privileged strategic partnership with New Delhi,” Putin declared. He praised India’s significant strides in various fields and lauded its constructive role in global affairs.
President Macron, taking to X (formerly Twitter), recalled his recent meeting with Modi in Paris and reiterated France’s steadfast friendship. “India can count on France as a trusted friend and partner, always,” Macron tweeted, also sharing footage from Modi’s French visit.
US Secretary of State Blinken, while celebrating the democratic histories of both nations, expressed the ever-growing bond between America and India. He remarked, “We stand with you in our shared commitment to tackle global challenges to ensure peace and prosperity.” Blinken further noted the expanding depth of US-India ties over the past year.
Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese celebrated the “warm friendship” between the two nations, hinting at the aspiration to enhance their closeness. Albanese commended the significant contributions of the India-Australian community, saying Australia has been enriched by their presence.
Other world leaders, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli President Isaac Herzog, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Bhutan Prime Minister Lotay Tshering, and Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, also conveyed their greetings, reflecting India’s pivotal role and deep-rooted ties on the global stage.
