RTA approves 10th edition of Dubai’s Railway Protection Code of Practice

The Railway Protection Code of Practice for Dubai has received approval from the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) for its tenth edition. Numerous improvements and advancements in this updated version have helped to achieve the best functional methods and safety precautions for RTA’s train facilities.

The ultimate objective is to guarantee the security of the emirate’s metro service users as well as the infrastructure and train facilities. The RTA Rail Agency emphasizes that the Executive Council’s Resolution No. 1/2017 and its amendments pursuant to Resolution No. 53/2023 to regulate railroad operations in Dubai contain this Code of Practice as a key provision of the legal framework. This Code of Practice aims to protect Dubai Rail’s facilities and infrastructure.

The Code is a key tool that entails the requirements for safely practising restricted activities within the Rail Protection Zones without endangering ne the safety and operation of the rail facilities.
The Code is based on carrying out a risk assessment and engineering analysis of all restricted works and activities which directly or indirectly impact the safety of the railway infrastructure. RTA met with government and service agencies, in addition to representatives of contracting and consultancy firms.
