Given the increasing number of cases of Delta Plus COVID-19 variants in the neighboring states of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has directed masses and the administration to take precautions and preventive measures in the state as well. Warning against the spread of this new variant in both the states, Baghel has instructed to keep a close watch on the movement at inter-state borders. He has also appealed to citizens in the state to take utmost caution for their own safety and the safety of others. Baghel has requested people to strictly follow the COVID-19 protocols vis a vis use of masks, hand hygiene, and social and physical distance.
Samples are being sent from AIIMS Raipur and Raipur Medical College’s Virology Lab to Bhubaneswar AIIMS and other cities for the advanced study to detect Delta Plus variants in the new cases of corona being found in the state. So far, the Delta Plus variant has not been found in any of the samples collected in Chhattisgarh.
