In 2020, it is no longer a rarity to come across entrepreneurs giving up their family businesses and perfect jobs to pursue their passions and dream ventures. However, a few years back, it was indeed rare for such a thing to happen. Deepak Purohit, an entrepreneur, a restaurateur and a chef was one of the few to take on this risk and traverse the road less travelled.

After 10 years of working with the best hotel groups and making a name for himself amongst peers and competitors, Deepak Purohit gave it up to pursue his dream of starting his own restaurant—36 Lebzelter. Having graduated in Hospitality and Hotel Management, he completed his industrial training with the Taj Group of Hotels, and worked with top brands in the industry like ITC, The Oberoi, Accor, The Leela, Holiday Inn, Radisson, Le Meridien and more. The experience and learnings from his time at these premium hotels made him realise that he was ready to forge his own path, on his own terms. This gave rise to his dream project, 36 Lebzelter, a bakery and café, which first opened in 2016 in Mayur Vihar and has since expanded to Noida Sector 104.

For the curious among us, Lebzelter is a community from Germany, famous for their bakeries and café’s when baking was never considered a commercial business proposition, leave alone a successful one. Under Adolf Hitler’s rule, the Lebzelter community went underground, however their legacy lives on and is thriving under the patient care of Chef Deepak Purohit.

Like the Lebzelter community, Chef Purohit’s bakery and café 36 Lebzelter believes in offering innovative products and creative combinations of ingredients and flavours. Their USP lies in creating unique fusion dishes, which have converted first-time visitors into repeat clientele. Adhering to the highest industry standards, 36 Lebzelter believes in serving their patrons the best quality ingredients cooked under sterile conditions, at reasonable costs while maintaining the best possible hospitality. They proudly claim to go any lengths to put a smile on the faces of their clients. Under Chef Purohit’s expert direction, this unique patisserie is flourishing!

36 Lebzelter started their journey in 2016 and have since established themselves as a leading bakery and café with the continued patronage and support of the loyal customers of Mayur Vihar, New Delhi. This encouraged them to open the doors to their second outlet in Noida Sector 104 in 2019.

The bakery and café is best known for their cricket-themed cakes, which are a crowd favourite. Made with exquisite details, they are perfect for birthday celebrations, theme parties or even to celebrate India’s or a specific IPL team’s victory in matches. These cakes are perfect gifting options for cricket fans, no matter the occasion.

The hot paneer paprika pizza is another popular item on the menu, favoured for its exotic flavours blended to perfection. Additionally, the Lebz chicken pizza, described as an incredible blast of flavours is a must-try. Drums of heaven is another popular dish, as it is cooked to perfection with the right blend of spices. The melt-in-your-mouth butter paneer dimsums are much in demand, as is the innovative Chinese bhel, prepared with fried noodles and Chinese sauces, and the chilly chicken burger, with in-house burger buns and delicious burger patties. For winter and the Christmas season, they are offering plum cakes and customised Christmas cupcakes as well.

With a seating of just 20-25 people, the strictest of hygiene standards and Covid-19 prevention protocols in place, 36 Lebzelter is a nice place to visit this winter season. The pocket-friendly menu and inviting interiors further add to its charm. If, however, you are reluctant to visit the space, you can also opt for delivery of their unique signature dishes.
