The State Investigation Unit (SIU) Srinagar has filed a chargesheet against two individuals, including an active absconding local terrorist, in Case FIR No. 37/2023 in the Court of NIA Srinagar.
In a statement, the police announced, “Today, the chargesheet bearing No. 02/2024 of Case FIR No. 37/2023 under sections 4/5 Exp. Sub Act, 13, 18, 20, 23, 38, 39 UA (P) Act of Police Station Kothibagh Srinagar stands presented before the Hon’ble Court of NIA Srinagar against two accused persons.”
The accused have been identified as Mohd Rangrez, son of Ab Rashid Rangrez, a resident of Firdousabad Batamaloo, described as a “terrorist associate,” who is currently in judicial custody at Central Jail Srinagar. The second accused is Momin Gulzar Mir, son of Gulzar Ahmad Mir, residing in Firdous Colony Eidgah Srinagar, identified as an active absconding ‘A’ category local terrorist.
The police have appealed to the Hon’ble Court to take cognizance under Section 299 CrPC accordingly. The chargesheet signifies a significant development in the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and maintain law and order in the region.
