India is on the Moon: ISRO Chief after Chandrayaan-3 feat
Bengaluru: As the Chandrayaan-3 lander module successfully landed on the moon’s South Pole, making India the first country to have achieved the historic feat, ISRO chief S Somanath on Wednesday congratulated the people of the country on the success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission and said, “Indian is on the moon”.
“India is on the Moon”, S Somanath said as Chandrayaan-3 lander module Vikram made a safe and soft landing on the Moon.
Officials at India’s space agency ISRO headquarters in Bengaluru broke into applause after the Vikram began its powered vertical descent towards its landing site.

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday congratulated the teams of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for the successful landing of the Chandrayaan-3 lander module on the moon’s South Pole, and said that it is the result of decades of tremendous ingenuity and hard work by the scientific community.
“Congratulations to Team ISRO for today’s pioneering feat. Chandrayaan 3’s soft landing on the uncharted lunar South Pole is the result of decades of tremendous ingenuity and hard work by our scientific community. Since 1962,” taking to twitter.
Digvijay creates row, alleges ISRO scientists’ pending salary
Bhopal: Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Digvijay Singh on Wednesday sparked a new controversy by claiming that “Scientists involved in Chandrayaan-3 mission have not received their salary for 17 months.”
“We are proud that ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) scientists are striving for the successful landing of Chandrayaan on the Moon. We pray to God for their success. But there are reports in the newspapers that the scientists who have done this have not received their salaries for 17 months,” the Congress leader claimed while speaking to a news agency here in the state capital Bhopal.
BJP, Congress locked in credit war over Chandrayaan-3
New Delhi: The Congress on Wednesday posted a photo of the Moon and recalled Chandrayaan-1, the first lunar mission. In the post, the Congress said the mission was successfully launched on October 22, 2008, from Sriharikota under the leadership of then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.The party also posted a dedicated video of the country’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. In response, BJP’s IT cell head Amit Malviya said that India has made strides in its space endeavours under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last nine years.
