The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president N. Chandrababu Naidu is set to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on June 12 at 11:27 a.m. at Kesarapalli IT Park near Gannavaram Airport, on the outskirts of Vijayawada.

In a joint meeting of TDP, BJP, and Janasena legislators, Mr. Naidu was unanimously elected as the NDA leader in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. Additionally, the Janasena Party unanimously elected its chief, Pawan Kalyan, as the leader of the Legislative Party on Tuesday.

N Chandrababu Naidu, who led the Telugu Desam Party-Bharatiya Janata Party-Janasena alliance to a decisive victory in the Andhra Pradesh assembly elections.

Additionally other prominent leaders are expected to take the oath, including Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan, senior leader N Manohar, Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh, and TDP Andhra Pradesh leader Atchannaidu. Given the strength of the Andhra Pradesh assembly (175 members), the cabinet can have up to 26 ministers, including the Chief Minister.

On Tuesday, Naidu met with Andhra Pradesh governor S Abdul Nazeer at the Raj Bhavan in Vijayawada to formally stake his claim to form the government. He was joined by his political allies, Janasena Party chief Pawan Kalyan and BJP state president Daggubati Purandeswari.

Naidu, who first became the chief minister of bifurcated Andhra Pradesh in 2014 and served until 2019, lost the 2019 elections but remained the opposition leader until his recent victory in 2024. The TDP-led alliance secured 164 of the 175 assembly seats and 21 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats, allowing Naidu to return as chief minister for a fourth term, defeating the YSRCP.

Prominent attendees at the oath-taking ceremony are expected to include Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP chief J P Nadda, and other leaders. According to the tentative schedule, Modi is anticipated to arrive by 10:55 am to participate in the ceremony, which will run from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.

The TDP has also invited farmers who contributed land for the Amaravati capital project and individuals who faced hardships during the previous YSR Congress administration.
