Chandigarh has once again proven its commitment to excellence in the Indian Smart City National Awards. Chandigarh Smart City has been, today, adjudicated as the Best UT, and has also been awarded the best E Governance Project, the best Mobility Project and the third best Sanitation Project.
The awards were given during India Smart Cities Conclave 2023 in Indore where Her Excellency President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu felicitated Chandigarh Smart City for developing the Best Project in Sustainable Mobility and E Governance categories, and the Best UT . Chandigarh was also given the Third position in the Sanitation Category for Revolutionising Waste Management in the city by Hon’ble Minister of MOHUA, GoI, Hardeep Puri.
The President, Smt. Droupadi Murmu felicitated the winners of the fourth edition of the India Smart Cities Award Contest (ISAC) 2022 during India Smart Cities Conclave at Brilliant Convention Centre, Indore, Madhya Pradesh on today on 27th September 2023 organized by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India.
Anindita Mitra IAS, Chief Executive Officer, Chandigarh Smart City Limited along with N.P. Sharma, Chief General Manager, Chandigarh Smart City Limited and DV Manohar, Chairman SmartBike received the Awards for Mobility and eGovernance Services.
Sh. Anup Gupta, Mayor Chandigarh, Sh. Nitin Kumar Yadav IAS, Home Secretary Chandigarh and Ms. Anindita Mitra IAS, Chief Executive Officer, Chandigarh Smart City Limited received the Award for Chandigarh as Best UT and an Award for being third in Sanitation Category.
While speaking to the local media of Indore, Sh. Nitin Kumar Yadav IAS, Home Secretary Chandigarh said that Chandigarh’s commendable achievements are attributed to ground breaking initiatives aimed at creating a greener and more sustainable city. Chandigarh’s exceptional efforts in providing safe and convenient non-motorized transport facilities have accomplished the city’s commitment to promote sustainable transportation and reduce carbon emissions.
Mayor Chandigarh Sh. Anup Gupta expressed his pride and dedicated the awards to the citizens of Chandigarh. Achievements of Smart City Chandigarh in the National Smart Cities Awards shows the commitment and the vision of a more sustainable city.
Ms. Anindita Mitra IAS, Chief Executive Officer, Chandigarh Smart City Limited, expressed that Chandigarh Smart City’s recognition at the National Smart Cities Award reaffirms its commitment to transforming Chandigarh into a model smart city, focusing on sustainable development, citizen-centric services, and continuous innovation.
Chandigarh Smart City showcased its award winning projects at the India Smart Cities Conclave at Indore efforts were made to create a replica of the city’s bicycling infrastructure and Public Bicycle sharing System. It was a moment of pride when Her Excellency, the President of India, visited the exhibition stall of Chandigarh.
The Conclave witnessed the participation of all 100 smart cities who are leading a paradigm shift in the practice of city development by being at the forefront of urban innovation. The event provided a platform for the cities to showcase their exemplary work done under the Mission to help crystallize the roadmap for the future of urban transformation in the country.
