In a crucial development, the 25-member state election committee of the Chandigarh Congress convened a meeting on Monday evening at Congress Bhawan. Led by former Union Minister Bhakta Charan Das, the committee engaged in a detailed discussion on the political landscape in Chandigarh, particularly in anticipation of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The meeting included prominent Congress leaders such as H.S. Lucky, Pawan Kumar Bansal, Subhash Chawla, D.D. Jindal, Harphool Kalyan, Pawan Sharma, Bhupinder Singh Badhedi, Jatinder Bhatia, Gurpreet Gabi, Nandita Hooda, Gurbux Rawat, Achhe Lal Gaur, Rajeev Modgil, S.A. Khan, Yadvinder Mehta, Vikram Chopra, Rajdeep Sidhu, Dilawar Singh, Surjeet Dhillon, Jasbir Bunty, OP Verma, Deepa Dubey, Sachin Galav, Manoj Lubana, and Gurcharan Das Kala.

AICC observers, including former Maharashtra government minister Yashomati Thakur and Rajya Sabha MP Neeraj Dangi, were present to oversee the proceedings. The observers held individual meetings with each member of the Election Committee, gathering their perspectives on issues concerning the people of Chandigarh. The committee also met with six Congress leaders who have applied for Congress tickets for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Following these consultations, the AICC observers will convey their recommendations to the Central Election Committee. Subsequently, the party high command will allocate the Congress party ticket to a single candidate based on these deliberations.

This strategic meeting highlights the Congress party’s concerted efforts to navigate the political landscape in Chandigarh and strategically position themselves for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
